"440 Turk Street" in San Francisco's Tenderloin District was one of three infamous San Francisco sites where the Rev. Jim Jones operated. "440 Turk" is the headwaters of the HUD-funded San Francisco Housing Authority, one of the worst operated in the US.

It is the home office of the San Francisco Housing Authority
Among the censored and suppressed facts about Rev. Jim Jones is that through the political manipulations of Willie Brown, then the leader of the California State legislature, and Mayor George Moscone, Brown got the California Legislature to pass a law that gave the Mayor of San Francisco the power to appoint the chairperson of the San Francisco Housing Authority.
Previously, the San Francisco City/County Board of Supervisors appointed the Chairperson and members of the San Francisco Housing Authority 's Commission members.
As a reward for massive vote fraud in the John Barbagelata - George Moscone Mayoral contest. That is, for fraud committed by Rev. Jim Jones and his minions in his Peoples Church, Mayor Moscone appointed Jones to head the San Francisco Housing Authority. After all, Moscone now had that power.

At far left (in more ways than one): Jim Jones
At right: George Moscone
John Barbagelata, was a member of the San Francisco City/County Board of Supervisors. In the last fifty years, Babagelata was also one of the last competent, honest, and ethical public officials in San Francisco's sordid political history. When Barbagelata ran for Mayor of San Francisco, Jones and Moscone used rampant vote fraud to defeat Barbagelata.
According to Jan(ice) Allen, a citizen critic of the Housing Authority and Jim Jones, "You could get anything you wanted at the SF Housing Authority . . .young boys, young girls, drugs, fenced or stolen goods as well as affordable housing. . ."
In their political and media paeans of mourning and praise for Moscone and Milk, the morons in the media, and the political hacks, have conveniently concealed this indisputable historical aspect of the late Mayor Moscone's mal-adminsitration.
According to AIDS/ACTUP, Harvey Milk was also involved with Rev. Jim Jones. The extent, length and breadth of their relationship is not yet fully known.
At the time Diane Feinstein was also a member of the San Francisco City/County Board of Supervisors. She was also President of that Board. When she succeeded Moscone, she blocked an audit of the Housing Authority, even though the San Francisco District Attorney tried to get an audit.
