The American Military Poverty Law Project is for military servicemen and women who are arrested and detained pretrial in local jails, county jails, and state prisons.

AMPLP ‘s research has discovered at least three other recent cases of local civil authorities violating federal military personnel’s rights.

Reliable information indcates that there are more cases out there, and that at least 5,000 military personnel per year may be arrested or detained by civilian authorities.

These detained military personnel are often unaware of both their civil and their military special rights. Military and National Guardsmen and women, when federalized, have both special rights and special responsibities (as well as punishment) under both the civil codes and the Universal Code of Military Justice.

Because of the long documented history of local prejudice, physical abuse and even murder commited against the federal military personnel, AMPLP offers tips to the military defendant on background investigation of his prosecutors, judges etc.The AMPLP can help make military servicemen and women, and their attorneys, aware of these special rights, how to assert and protect them.

American Military Poverty Law Project is also for veterans of the military who may want to challenge the illegalities perpetrated upon them when they were arrested, tried, convicted, incarcerated and imprisoned - and in the process, illegally lost the military veterans rights granted them by Congress.

All American Military Poverty Law Project workers are volunteers. To date, Peter Paul (Ver Zola) has researched over 2,400 cases: Federal, State, Military and two related Canadian cases. Because this is non profit project, legal resource information and military civil rights is avaliable for a small information retrieval fee.

Steven Nary, a U.S. Navy sailor who was illegally deprived of his military rights, has been a pauper since March 1996. FREE THE SAILOR, a non-profit legal defense fund, has been set up by Peter Ver zola and registered with the State of California. To defray Nary's legal expenses we offer absolutely unique audio and videotaped interviews of historic persons. In addition, if you simply want to contribute to his legal defense, send your checks, money orders, and even stamps to:
