November 2008 marks the 233rd Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps
The US Marine Corps was founded in November of 1775. Today, the US Marines are an administrative department of the US Navy.
Since 1775, among the many illustrious US Marine officers was General Smedley Darlington Butler (July 30, 1881 - June 21, 1940). He was the patriot who foiled the 1933 plot to seize the White House. General Butler was also the most decorated military person in his time.
Drew Malone Raines III , his grandnephew, was also a US Marine. Drew served honorably from 1967 to1977. During that time he was an embassy guard. After his stint in the Marines he continued his work for the nation.
Drew Raines has researched, produced and hosted a series of radio talk and satellite programs that exposed political corruption and abuses perpetrated by the powerful and covered up by the media.
