ALAMO SQUARE in SAN FRANCISCO, CA

THE UNPUBLICIZED LINGERING
LEGACY and RELATIONSHIP
BETWEEN HARVEY MILK & DAN WHITE

And the Non-Publicized Relationship of Yvonne Golden to Rev. Jim Jones

San Francisco’s Alamo Square has some of best panoramic views and painted Victorians in Northern California.  Tourists from around the world, when visiting San Francisco, include this district on their tours for photography and panoramic scenery.

Despite the annual breast beating by media people and politicians who were around in the Rev. Jim Jones, Harvey Milk, Patti Hearst and the SLA-Symbionese Liberation Army terrorist era of the late nineteen seventies, it appears that only the politically aware and political cognoscente vividly remember that Alamo Square was connected not only to the relationship between Dan White and Harvey Milk, but to that of Yvonne Golden and the late Rev. Jim Jones.

Yvonne Golden, actually Yvonne Scarlett-Golden, was the principal of a local San Francisco High School, Alamo Park Alternative High School, later named for Ida B. Wells. More on Yvonne Golden later.

San Francisco Supervisors Dan White and Harvey Milk

Left to Right: Harvey Milk, George Moscone, Dan White

Political cognoscente remember that before Dan White murdered Harvey Milk, both public officials, along with Mark Hurley, a San Francisco police officer liaison for San Francisco’s Animal Control, all worked together to publicize the epidemic of dog crap on San Francisco’s sidewalks and grass in the city’s parks.

To get media publicity for his campaign against doggie doo, Milk would plant a dog turd or two on Alamo Square’s sidewalks. Then he would try to have TV media people publicize the crap on the nightly news.  Before Harvey Milk departed from New York City, he had worked in advertising.

In San Francisco, and as part of the city’s political establishment and administration, San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk worked with San Francisco Supervisor Dan White. According to political intelligentsia, Milk would pat Dan White on his butt while telling White “he was really in the closet and gay.”

At some point White apparently had had enough sexual harassment and, outraged by other flaming political acts of Milk, White killed Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone in November of 1978.

Mayor Moscone had his own unpublicized sexual preferences.    According to San Francisco Police and political cognoscente, Moscone was known as “Turkey legs” because he "liked dark meat.".

Yvonne Golden

During that same era in San Francisco, Yvonne Golden (at left) was the black political activist principal of the local high school located at Alamo Square.   Among her political activities was encouraging San Francisco’s blacks to support the controversial Rev. Jim Jones and to depart with him for Guyana and Jonestown.

When Rev. Jim Jones was finally exposed as a charlatan, Golden refused to recant and repent for the damage she did to those gullible blacks that followed the demagogue to their deaths at Jonestown.

After Yvonne Gulden’s retirement from the San Francisco Unified School District, she returned to Florida, where she died last year - unrepentant.

Today, Alamo Square still has the high school, painted Victorian lady houses and dog crap on the sidewalk.
