The Case Against Kevin V. Ryan's Application for a
Federal Judgeship, U.S. Attorney, or Other?

Exposé letter to President George W. Bush, Commander-in-Chief, Armed Forces:

Political endorsement entitled, "Municipal Curt (sic) #8 Judge Kevin Ryan":

"Judge Keven (sic) Ryan is another capable judge who should be retained. He is fair, impartial and has a good record on gay issues. He is endorsed by over 85 judges, public defenders and district attorneys. Why would we not endorse him? We urge you to vote for Judge Kevin Ryan to serve another term."

Note: Other Ryan endorsement faxes for the 1998 Campaign for San Francisco Judicial Seat Number Eight include Susan Leal's (San Francisco County Treasurer), and that of Leland Yee (San Francisco Board of Supervisors member, and 2002 candidate for California State Assembly).

(below) $20,013.65 was paid to Tim Johnson, a/k/a The Johnson Group, to run Ryan's campaign for Judicial Seat Eight.

Tim Johnson is a gay activist who was employed by (then) San Francisco Mayor Art Agnos as Deputy Director of the Bureau of Parking and Traffic for the City and County of San Francisco. However, Johnson spent his time down in Palm Springs, California collecting political campaign contributions for Agnos' unsuccessful 1990-1991 re-election bid for Mayor of San Francisco. As Deputy Director of the Bureau of Parking and Traffic, Johnson received over $90,000 a year plus the use of a City car - both of which he never accounted for. (Addresses were used for these faxes but the senders didn't live there at the time of the fax (or never lived at those addresses.) Public Affairs Associates, which was paid over $1,642, was operated by Ed McGovern, another Agnos political facilitator. San Franciscans Together, which was paid $500 for a slate card, at 1489 Dolores Street in San Francisco, is an address used by Ryan-endorser Leland Yee.
