(Exterior of San Francisco's City Prison)"850 Bryant," San Francisco's city prison, built in 1956 by San Francisco Mayor George Christopher. This building was state of the art then, but has been deteriorating since. It is also the site of the local criminal courts where Judges Bouilane, Ryan, and others dispensed justice. This jail is also under contract to the U.S. Federal Marshal's Service to house federal prisoners for court appearances at the local Federal Courthouse.

Although repeatedly put on notice, Sheriff Michael Hennesey is still in non-compliance with mandated Federal regulations regarding the conditions of confinement of all pre-trial prisoners. Pulaski County, AK; Angola Farm, LA; Omaha, NB; and Los Angeles County, CA are just a few of the many local jails that have complied with Federal Court orders to provide regular outside exercise for all pre-trial prisoners.

Nary had no outside exercise or access to fresh air, sunlight for 3 1/2 years.

By comparison, stray dogs housed in the San Francisco Animal Control Dog Pound have access to fresh air, sunlight, and outside exercise every day.
